?背景延伸第二十四届世界哲学大会（WCP）将于8月13日—20日在北京举行。这是自1900年该大会开始举办以来首次在中国举行。大会的发起者、组织者——国际哲学团体联合会（FISP）成立于1948年，是一个非政府性的世界哲学组织，主要致力于“促进各国哲学家之间自由和相互尊重地发展学术关系”。国际哲学团体联合会主席德莫特·莫兰（Dermot Moran）在去年本届世界哲学大会倒计时一周年致辞中指出，“无论在哪里被践行，哲学都和当地语言、文化以及传统密不可分。然而，在探寻恒久的、普遍的真理过程中，哲学也始终力图以大胆的且具有创造性的方式追问自身的条件并超越局域限制。自二十世纪初以来，世界哲学大会已经为哲学实践添加了一个重要的新维度”。世界哲学大会每五年举行一次，自第一届巴黎大会以来，先后在海德堡（1908）、布拉格（1934）、阿姆斯特丹（1948）、布鲁塞尔（1953）、威尼斯（1958）、墨西哥城（1963）、维也纳（1968）、蒙特利尔（1983）、布赖顿（1988）、莫斯科（1993）、波士顿（1998）、伊斯坦布尔（2003）、首尔（2008）、雅典（2013）等地举行。
